·         We ran into problems regarding transmission of the signal from the force sensor on the pedals, so we dropped that in favor of controlling the motor based on the speed at which the rider is pedaling.  The motor will pulse in rhythm with the rider’s pedaling, turning on at the beginning of a stroke and turning off again near the end.  This system should allow the user to control the motor simply by riding the bike as they normally would.  The system will work by adding a magnet to the crank arm of the pedals and detecting its motion using Hall effect sensors mounted on the chain guard.
